Mactan is located east of Cebu offers a wide variety of beach resorts and fine beaches.

1. Island hopping

Olanggo Island –  It is located east Cordova of Mactan. It is known for having migrating birds settle here at Olango Island during winter season. It has herons, egrets, waterfowls, and many birds from Siberia, Northern China, and Japan. Olango Island  is a sanctuary for birds, and marine life. It is rich in mangrove trees, coral reefs, sandy beach, and rocky shorelines. It has six islets namely Sulpa, Gilutongan (also spelled Hilutungan), Nalusuan, Caohagan, Pangan-an, and Camungi. The famous one is Hilutungan and Nalusuan.

Nalusuan –  It is a marine sanctuary and has a famous beach resort – Nalusuan Resort, which covers the whole island. It has white sand beach. You can do recreational activities in Nalusuan like:

  • Kayak
  • Paddle Boat

Hilutungan Island is also a marine sanctuary. It is the best place for beginners in diving and snorkeling.

Take a pumpboat or banka (outrigger boats). You can find them at resorts like Maribago, Shangri-la Resort, and one beside in Movenpick Resort. Travel time in going to Olanggo, Nalusuan, or Hilutungan is mostly an hour each. You can travel in groups, or going solo.

Top Things to do in Palawan

El Nido 
It is considered one of the best and most beautiful beaches in the world. It is located in northernmost tip of mainland Palawan. The waters are very clear, rock formations, and the landscapes very nice. You can find islands resorts in El Nido, namely:

2. Visit an underground river at Puerto Princessa

A protected area of the Philippines, it has been a forefront of tourism in the Philippines, as one of the new seven wonders of Nature by UNESCO. It features spectacular formations of stalactites and stalagmites and bats! In 2010, a group of environmentalists and geologists discovered that the underground river that there could be small waterfalls inside the cave. The underground river claims to be the world’s longest underground river.

You have to travel by air (Cebu Pacific or Airasia) via Puerto Princessa.


The famous Zubuchon in Cebu.  Zubuchon’s Lechon is the main crunchy delicacy in Cebu, Philippines. It is a roasted pig blended with ingredients of spices and other herbs. It’s a native Filipino food popular in Cebu City. They offer spicy lechon, and other flavours. How to get to Bantayan Island:

When you’re in Cebu, take a bus ride going to Bantayan at North bus Terminal in Mandaue near SM City, Cebu. It’s  2 hours and 30 minute ride. When you reach Hagnaya port, take the boat and you pay for a fare of Php 170.


Things to do in Bohol

Bohol is located at Central Visayas, Philippines. It is considered one of the best tourist spot and most travelled spot in the Philippines. You can:

1. Enjoy the scenery at the Chocolate Hills

One of the worlds eighth wonder, it is beautiful, breezy, and awesomely cute hills that look like hershey’s chocolate. That’s why they call it Chocolate Hills. It is one of the most breathtaking sites in the Philippines.

2. Sightseeing at Sagbayan peak

You can watch the Chocolate Hills from another view. A scenic landscape of more chocolate hills! The more chocolate hills, the merrier. You will see  Duffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, Lola, Marilyn Monroe, Donald Duck, Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, Lion King, Tiger and other dinosaurs. There is also a refreshment area for food and drinks.

3. Ziplining at Danao Extreme-Adventure Park.

One of the longest zipline and really fun extreme ride you can take at the Danao Extreme Adventure Park. With activities like wall climbing and river kayaking in Danao, Bohol, you don’t really wanna miss it.

4. Swim fine beaches

White sand beaches include: Panglao Beach, Momo beach, Libaong Beach, Alona beach, Dumaluan beach and so many others. Stay in the Island of Panglao, and you’ll find a variety of beaches in there.

Dumaluan beach – is a beach resort with budget and affordable accommodations. You can stay there anytime you like. They also have a restaurant for food and dining. They have white sand beach.

Alona Beach. The beach has a length of 800 meters. It is the most famous beach in Panglao, Bohol. They offer trips to the nearby islands of Balicasag and Pamilacan island.

5. Take a chance to gaze at the Tarsiers

They are nocturnal, cute animals with giant eyes and immensely soft fur. They fly, and hang around  in palm leafs or between tree branches in Loboc. They are endangered species. It’s a once in a lifetime chance to get to see them. They are the smallest primates of the world. And also, the mammal with the biggest eyes. Their gaze are very cute and lovely.

6. Eat at a Floating restaurant river cruise

Just after watching the tarsiers, you can dine at a floating restaurant just along Loboc river.  It costs around Php 1,000(per person), with eat all you can food and drinks. The floating restaurant also offers music by singers while eating and dining in the floating restaurant.

7. Butterfly Sanctuary in Bohol

It is a place where you can see all types of butterflies in the world. You can find the largest butterfly here. Wait for the guide to help you through knowing the butterflies and their kingdom, the guide will show you through the butterflies life cycle, their metamorphoses, and their natures. The butterfly sanctuary have  more or less 300 butterfly species. Entrance is Php 40 for adults, and Php 10 for kids.

8. Bohol Bee farm

It is a restaurant that serves delicious organic food, like rose petals, honey, malunggay and many more. They have salads with palatable tastes. They also have well decorated huts and beautiful cottages with jacuzzi’s for accommodation, and swimming pool.

9. Blood Compact Shrine in Tagbiliran

This is where it happend. The blood compact shrine is the very site where Sikatuna and Miguel Lopez de Legazpi  in the act of peace in March 16, 1565.

10. Visit Baclayon Church

A century old church and historic church. It is dedicated to Our Lady Immaculate Conception. The church is made of stones, and facing the altar is designed with Baroque pulpits.

11. Hanging bridge in Tigbao

If you are brave enough, you can face your fears from the hanging bridge in Tigbao. A bridge made of bamboo crossing the Loboc river through the other side. On the other side has a sale of souvenir items and t-shirts.

12. Man-made forest in Bilar

Take a peek of the man-made forest in Bilar on your way to Chocolate Hills. It is a series of mahogany trees planted by the Holy Name University. You can spend a few minutes taking some time here to be one with nature. It gives you a refreshing feeling of the fresh breeze that touches in your skin. You’ll feel like you are in another side of the world.


Getting here around Bohol:

Find a v-hire or (“van for hire”) at Tagbiliran, Bohol or at Island City Mall. The fee is around Php 2,500 – Php 3,000 depending on the number of spots your taking.

3. Exploring the caves

There’s a lot of caves in Camotes Islands: Bukilat Cave, Heaven Cave, Paradise Cave, and some caves unexplored. You need to have a guide with you so you won’t get lost in Camotes.

Bukilat Cave is one of the most visited place in Camotes. Although it’s far from San Francisco, you have to travel for around 2 hours to get to Bukilat Cave. The cave has big mouth and when you enter it’s bigger than you thought. It has a body of water where you can swim, and at the end of the cave you can find an opening from the top, which is fun to look at when it reaches the cave. It’s very landscape is nice and very beautiful.

Heaven Cave  One of the few caves that opened in 2016. It has a small entrance, and be careful with your footstep. It’s astonishingly beautiful rich in stalactites and stalagmites, crystals, and interestingly, a part of the cave has looks like having teeth formations from dinosaurs, and at the end of the cave, you can find a form of Mother Mary in it.

Timubo Cave Is one of the few popular caves visited by tourists. You have to go underneath the cave, that has a little stream; and at the end of the cave, you will find a body of water with big opening. You have to be brave to enter the cave, and adventurous.

4. Go biking

Camotes is filled with scenic view and landscape, you can take a picture, or just enjoy biking along the road with not much traffic. You can pass by cornfields, and rice fields, the view of the lake which are very terrific for your biking experience.

5. Discover the falls

They have two waterfalls in Camotes: Pangunaron and Busay falls.

You have to go upstream by the river going to the falls. Busay falls is good for taking a dip, and have picnics.

6. Jump off the cliff at Buho Rock

Pizza, have a night out with your friends, or family. Hang out with soulful mellow music and listen light music with the band at San Francisco Baywalk.

8. Visit the lake in Lake Danao Park

A mythical and legendary Lake Danao Park which used to be a town, turned into a lake. To know its full story, you have to visit the Park. The park also offers boat paddling, swimming pool (Php 100), and let you go fishing, have a picnic and relax!

Things to do in Cebu

Cebu is rich in century old churches, history, and landscapes. Find some of the interesting places you want to travel in Cebu, Philippines.

  1. Fort San Pedro

    It was built by the Spanish under the command of Miguel López de Legazpi, first governor General of the Spaniards who came to the Philippines. The original fort was made of wood and built, and later developed. If you have  a boring day, you can spend time here, watching people hang out, and visit this historical venue.

    It is located in Beverly Hills Subdivision, Lahug, Cebu City. It is a solemn temple by the Chinese community who also prays there and ask for guidance. Experience the feel in the temple. The buildings were also beautifully designed and well-decorated.

  6. Mountain View Nature’s Park

    It is an overlooking view, that you must visit this, too. You’ll see an amazing view of Mandaue city at night and enjoy the citylights.

    Interact with the whales sharks, also called “butanding” in Visayan term. They are harmless, very kind natured, and remarkable. They are huge and have white spots around their skins. They are fed with tiny shrimps, called “uyap”. You can feed, dive and snorkel with them in the mornings.

  12. Osmena peak

    Try to trail at Osmena peak, located at Badian, Cebu. Explore the little clusters of green jagged hills in Badian. You travel from Mantalongon and it ends in Kawasan ang Liong.

  13. Shopping at Ayala Center

    You can find lots of various shopping stores in Ayala Center. Also, you can have fun dining, take a walk and hangout in the Terraces. It’s nice to spend some time with your friends and family, and have a good time.

    Spending time shopping and enjoy skating, cinema, and bowling is all you can find at SM Seaside City. With various major shops and fun games, it is surely a place to be.

    Malapascua Island – It is located just north of Bantayan Island. It is a good diving site for foreigners. It is a paradise island. It has a charm on its own. You can have an encounter of big fishes, sharks, sea turtles, corals, and a lot more for your diving adventure. Best time to visit is from May to December.
    Bantayan Island – It is the northeastern part of Cebu Province. You can find lots of beach resorts here.
    Olango Group of Islands – Located just east of Mactan, Cebu. It comprises Olango island and 6 satellite islets namely: Sulpa, Gilutongan, Nalusuan, Caohagan, Pangan-an, and Camungi. It is known for its wildlife sanctuary of migrating birds. It is also a diving site of sharks, barracudas, fishes, tuna, and many others.
    Sumilon Island – It is located east of Oslob, Cebu. It is a private beach resort island. A good spot for swimming and roam the whole island for just a few hours. To get here, you have to travel by a pumpboat that costs Php 1,500. The shoreline is purely white sand, with shallow sandbar in it.
    Camotes Islands – Camotes Islands compose of San Francisco (Pacijan), Poro Island, and Pilar. San Francisco has most of the white sand beaches. You can also visit the caves and waterfalls. Truly a paradise to see.
    Mactan Island – It is famous for having a lot of beach resorts, with white sand beaches. You can visit the Imperial Water Park, Movenpick Hotel and Resorts, Portofino, Maribago Bluewaters, Shangri-La Mactan just to name a few.

  19. Zipline in Balamban and Lahug

    Experience the adventure and the wind in your face while doing zipline in Cebu. Doce Pares Mountain Training Park is located in Barangay Malubog, Busay. The entrance fee is only Php 25. The course is a 100meter zip.  You can find another zipline adventure in K33 Green Adventure. It is located in Balamban with 300meter zip. For another zipline, you can also find Adventure Cafe, the first resto adventure in the Philippines for zipline experience.

  20. Have photographic moments at Sirao Park
